BLUE CHRISTMAS
14 December

Wander over to Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens this December for a fantastic festive workshop.

Part of the Observe, Experiment, Archive exhibition from North East Photography Network, learn how to make cyanotype Christmas cards and calendars with amazing artist Jo Howell.

Did you know that cyanotype photography was a popular Victorian England technique used mainly by civil engineers? This fascinating process allowed engineers to reproduce copies of architectural drawings using cyanotype as a low-cost and simple solution.

Many of our city’s great Victorian buildings would have been built using cyanotype photography! Learn more at this great Christmas workshop… not to be missed!

MIRROR SANDBLASTING
23 December

Don’t miss National Glass Centre’s fascinating mirror sandblasting workshop.

Taking inspiration from the centre’s Through the Looking Glass exhibition, it gives you the chance to create your own mirrored artwork.

FAMILY FUSING – HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS
29 December

This super fun event gives you and your loved ones a chance to create a large fused glass panel in the shape of your family home!

Learn about the fusing process, jot down your design and watch your design come to life.

All creations will be fired in the kiln and available to collect in time for last minute gifts and decorations too!

CHRISTMAS SNOWMAN, ANGEL OR SNOWY OWL
27, 30 December and 3 January

Create beautiful glass snowmen, angels and snowy owls using sand to make a mould.

Add your own colour and decoration to make your design unique and watch as it’s transformed by the National Glass Centre team, who will pour molten glass into your mould, resulting in your own individual piece of festive art.

Suitable for kids aged 6 and above.

All children aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult.
