For many, Christmas is the most magical time of the year; a time to surround yourself with loved ones, explore Christmas markets, show off your skills at the ice rink and indulging in every way possible. It’s a unique time of year during which the little moments mean the most – and so many special memories are made. Here a few things we love doing during the run-up to the big day…
BUILD A GINGERBREAD HOUSE
There’s no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than getting the whole family together for some festive baking. Making and assembling gingerbread houses is oh-so-traditional and loads of fun for all ages and abilities. And the best part? You get to eat your handy work afterwards! Have a go and tag us in your snaps on social media @SunderlandVibe #SunderlandVibe
MAKE CHRISTMAS CARDS
Show you care by treating the special people in your life to heartfelt homemade cards this year. Roll up your sleeves, grab the marker pens, reach out for the glue and glitter and let your creative side take over!
WATCH CHRISTMAS FILMS
Cosying up on the sofa with big mugs of hot chocolate and your favourite festive flicks is an absolute must this time of year! Whether you’re a fan of Elf, The Holiday, Jack Frost, It’s a Wonderful Life or Home Alone (or all of them!), now’s the time to grab the blankets, turn your phones off and escape for a few hours.
BAKE TREATS FOR SANTA
You’re never too old to put out treats for Santa! Once Christmas Eve arrives, so do the milk and cookies, mince pies and carrots for Rudolph and his pals – and here at Sunderland Vibe, it’s a tradition that never gets old. This year, though, we’ll be testing out our new Christmas cookie cutters and leaving out freshly-baked gingerbread delights for the big man himself. Why not do the same and tag us in your festive creations on social media? @SunderlandVibe #SunderlandVibe
You can’t beat a good board game or two at Christmas! The old-school challenges, such as Monopoly and charades, will always have a special place in our hearts, but there are tons of new ones to try now, too. Dig out your old favourites and say yes to a few new competitive card games and you’re winning. The perfect way to pass the time while you’re waiting for your Christmas dinner!
Whatever it is you get up to this Christmas, we hope it’s filled with love, laughter and joy!
