For the fifth year running, a significant amount of Easter eggs have been collected as part of Gentoo’s annual ‘Good Egg’ campaign.
This year, more than 1,200 Easter eggs were donated by Gentoo employees, customers and corporate partners, ENGIE and Northern Gas Networks (NGN), to be donated to those less fortunate across Sunderland.
Over the past week, staff and volunteers have helped deliver the chocolate eggs to a number of local beneficiaries across the city, including Ashkirk Homeless Household Project, Grace House, Together for Children, Sunderland Basis Homeless Service, More Than Grandparents, Sunderland Foodbank, Sunderland Mind, Back on the Map, Healing Opportunities Provision Team (HOPS) and Easington Lane Access Point (ELCAP) amongst many others.
Michelle Meldrum, Executive Director (Operations) at Gentoo said: “We have received an overwhelming amount of Easter eggs this year.
“The generosity of our colleagues, customers and partners ENGIE and NGN has been fantastic.
“The Good Egg campaign shows how a small act of kindness can have a positive impact on people’s lives. On behalf of Gentoo, I would like to thank our colleagues, ENGIE, NGN and the local community who have donated their time and Easter eggs to the campaign.
“Your contribution has helped put a smile on many people’s faces this Easter.”
Amy Porter, CSR Manager at ENGIE, said: “As a business, ENGIE is focused on working with partners to improve the environment we live in – this includes supporting the communities we work in and the people we work with – so we are thrilled to support Gentoo’s Easter campaign.
“This year, our staff and our sub-contractors banded together and we collected more than 600 Easter eggs for redistribution across Sunderland.
“I would like to thank everyone who donated. While it might only seem like a small thing, it really makes a difference to the kids when they get given an Easter Egg.”
Jade Dunn, NGN’s Customer Care Officer (Wear), said: “Northern Gas Networks is very excited to be working alongside Gentoo this year for the local Easter egg appeal.
“Finding ways to support the communities we serve is extremely important to us and this is a great project to be involved in.
“We look forward to a continued collaborative partnership with Gentoo and to helping make a positive difference to the lives of local families.”
Every spring, Gentoo encourages the local community in Sunderland to support the Good Egg campaign.
