There’s nothing more delicious than fresh fish and chips on Good Friday and thankfully, Sunderland is awash with some high-class chippies in and around the city.

We’ve rounded up a few spots to kickstart the Easter celebrations here in Sunderland. Check out some of the top chippes in Sunderland for your Easter fish and chip fix!

Minchella’s Fish & Chips Seaburn

Minchella’s is one of Sunderland’s most popular foodie spots, especially when it comes to a good ol’ chippy tea.

Situated on Dykelands Road in Seaburn, Minchella’s has been a firm favourite on the promenade and they’re known for their lush selection of homemade deep-fried goods and they’re a sure bet for those wanting to munch on straight-from-the-sea cod and thick cut chips.

Complete the feast with rich mushy peas and slabs of crusty farmhouse bread and you’re onto a winner this Good Friday.

Pier Fish & Chips

Potter over to Pier Fish & Chips for their amazing, beer-battered cod and chips this Easter.

An iconic name on Sunderland’s seafront, this fish and chip spot is located at the start of Roker Pier and they’ve built quite the following when it comes to jumbo cod, chips and all the trimmings.

With a gorgeous view overlooking the beach and plenty of space for kids to run wild and enjoy our glorious coast, be sure to give this lot a visit if you’re out and about at the coast on Good Friday.

It promises to be a delicious day out at the beach for all!

Angels Fish and Chips

There’s nothing like a chippy tea on Good Friday and our friends at Angels know how to fry up a storm.

Nestled in the heart of Sunderland on Derwent Street, this lot are renowned across the city and they’re serving us Mackems with the goods to go this year.

Think freshly-caught jumbo cod wrapped in a crunchy batter, fluffy chips and your go-to side or sauce. Are you a mushy peas, gravy or curry kind of person?

Downey’s Fish & Chips

This fabulous takeaway doesn’t need any introduction at all!

With stores at St. Lukes Terrace in Pallion, one on Roker seafront, another spot in STACK Seaburn and a restaurant in Seaham, Downey’s has become a phenomenon in the local area for their amazing fish takeaways!

They’ve been named as a Top 5 Chippy in the UK by Absolute Radio in the past and for good reason too. We’ll just let their Instagram feed do all the talking on this occasion!
