Music lovers rejoice! Sunderland will be welcoming the first-ever Lamplight Festival to Mowbray Park this summer…
Based in the city centre, this music extravaganza will welcome a range of world-class artists to the city centre this August!
Organised by Sunderland City Council, Lamplight Festival will play host to UK indie-rock giants, Kaiser Chiefs, on Saturday 8 August, with Sunderland’s very own Frankie & The Heartstrings confirmed as special guests.
Kaiser Chiefs frontman, Ricky Wilson, said: “It’s always great to be part of a new festival and we can’t wait to once again play alongside Frankie & the Heartstrings as well as other great acts to headline the Saturday stage in Sunderland.”
Glasgow rock icons, Deacon Blue, will round off the festival with an unmissable headline set on Sunday 9 August. These alt-rockers are no strangers to the spotlight; they’ve sold over seven million albums worldwide, bagged themselves two number one albums and even released 14 hit singles. We can’t wait to sing-along to classics such as Real Gone Kid and Dignity, as well as stunners from their forthcoming album ‘City of Love’.
And the fun doesn’t stop there! Music fans can expect stunning sets from the likes of UK singer-songwriter, KT Tunstall, and frontman and chief songsmith of Idlewild, Roddy Woomble! With more venues, artists and activities set to be announced in the coming weeks, we’re keeping our eyes firmly fixed on this major music date!
Lamplight Festival will take place at Sunderland’s Mowbray Park from 8-9 August.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on 14 February.
