Sunderland lifestyle blogger, Sarah Jayne, talks Christmas Eve PJs, Buck’s Fizz and Christmas shopping tactics…

What is your typical Christmas day routine?

I always get up super early and start Christmas day with a bacon sandwich and a glass of Buck’s Fizz. I then get ready and head over to my mam and dad’s, where I’ll spend the majority of the day eating all the food with Prosecco on tap. Later on in the evening, my family and I always have a Christmassy raffle. We win the silliest of prizes and the money raised goes to our chosen charity of the year.

Do you have any Christmas traditions you follow each year?

I have many Christmas traditions! Even though I moved into my own house over two years ago, I always help my mam prep the veg on Christmas Eve. When I’m home, I’ll have a bath and get into brand new pyjamas (I’m sure everyone does this)!? Christmas Day is basically the same for me every single year – I wouldn’t change it!

Where’s your favourite place to shop for Christmas?

I’m super organised, so my Christmas shopping was finished around August! This year has been a mixture of online and high street shopping, but where I can, I like to invest in local, independent businesses. When it comes to the Boxing Day sales, you can’t beat a half-price gift set from Boots!

What’s your favourite Christmas song?

I love Leona Lewis’ One More Sleep. I’d go so far as to say this song is better than Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas. There, I said it!

What’s your favourite Christmas film?

That’s a hard one, as there are some pretty good classics out there. The Grinch, Home Alone, Elf and The Nightmare Before Christmas are always on my must-watch list.

What’s your favourite thing about the festive period?

Honestly? The people around the dinner table. There’s nothing better than spending this time of year with the people who truly matter.
