Sunderland-born blogger, Alice Fairweather, falls in love with Seaham Hall’s Valentine’s Day package of bliss…
Love is most certainly in the air at Seaham Hall! The idyllic spa has become one of the North East’s most beloved hotspots to relax and unwind.
Myself and my fiancé headed down on a blustery cold evening after work, eager to wind down after a busy day.
On arrival, you’re greeted with a warm smile and welcomed by the staff, plus given a tour of the facilities. We opted for their Valentine’s Day set menu which did not disappoint!
This luxury package offers an unconventional twist on relaxing massage in the form of a DIY couples’ massage – and yes, it was exactly what you’re imagining right now. We gave each other a massage – luckily with the help of a professional!
I won’t lie, we were apprehensive about the whole set up, but it was a lot of fun!
We had help from the lovely Caitlin who guided us through the best, most relaxing, techniques and informed us on how to best target areas of stress. Patient, friendly and encouraging, she was the perfect teacher!
It was a real learning experience and very interesting. I can’t say it was particularly romantic, but it was a unique and hilarious experience – definitely a one I would recommend to other couples.
One thing I will say is, though, being a masseuse is hard and hungry work! After working up an appetite, we headed to The Ozone Restaurant for a romantic feast.
The Ozone offers Pan-Asian cuisine in a fabulous setting. It’s a relaxed and informal restaurant, which is conveniently located in the Serenity Spa, meaning you’re free to fill your bellies while still in your robes!
We were given a delicious sharing menu for two, which is being offered to couples in celebration of Valentine’s Day. On there, you can expect to find a platter of tempura oysters for starters, Ozone surf ‘n’ turf teriyaki for mains and a selection of mini Ozone desserts to round things off.
On arrival, we were greeted with a glass of pink fizz, which was a lovely touch, before the chef spoiled us with truly mouth-watering food!
The crispy tempura oysters were served with a light and tangy cucumber and seaweed salad, which I devoured. The zingy and refreshing dressing was divine!
The surf ‘n’ turf included a 9oz sirloin steak with garlic-fried king prawns, served with sweet potato fries and Asian picked salad. The steak was cooked to perfection – it melted in the mouth – while the garlic prawns were fresher than fresh, smothered in sweet teriyaki sauce.
Last, but not least, my favourite dish of the evening was served – dessert! We were treated to warm and gooey chocolate brownie, sweet raspberry cheesecake, indulgent sticky toffee pudding and sweet flan. A perfect combo for anyone with a sweet tooth!
Once fed, we retreated to the spa for some rest and relaxation. Seaham Hall’s Serenity Spa is truly breathtaking and packed with fabulous facilities.
If you’re looking for a luxury date night spot with a twist, then this package is for you!
