We caught up with the Gogglebox icon to find out more…

Sunderland Empire’s festive offering continues to grow – and we can’t wait for the fun the unfold!

Having hosted amazing West End shows such as The Bodyguard and Motown The Musical in recent months, the theatre has now announced that Cinderella will take to the stage with a very special, North East guest – Scarlett Moffatt!

The local lass will take centre-stage this Christmas, stepping into the magical role of the Fairy Godmother! Scarlett became a regular on TV screens around the UK with her quick-witted humour on Gogglebox, before capturing the hearts of the nation as Queen of the Jungle on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here 2016.

Scarlett spoke of her excitement to be making her pantomime debut at Sunderland Empire: “It’s my favourite theatre and I come to visit at least once a month, whether it’s catching a musical, getting all Christmassy at the panto, or pretending to be posh watching the ballet.”

Scarlett’s warm and affable personality has led her to a number of high-profile presenting roles, something she is looking forward to sharing with North East audiences: “I’d like to bring what most northerners bring to the party; humour, witty sarcasm and lots of fun.”

Joining Scarlett on stage will be the undisputed Queen of North East comedy, Miss Rory, who will play the feisty Rorina Hardup! Known for her glamour, razor-sharp tongue and quick wit, Scarlett is super excited about sharing a stage with the Queen of Comedy this Christmas: “I will be fully embracing the feistiness, and I’ll just make sure she minds her Ps and Qs as an Ugly Sister!”

With Christmas just around the corner, the preparations for this amazing pantomime are already underway and Scarlett is looking forward to the challenge of playing the Fairy Godmother: “I feel like this role was made for me. The Fairy Godmother was always my favourite character in pantomimes since I was a little girl. Plus, I feel like all of my dreams have come true so it’s time to grant somebody else theirs”.

A fantastic adventure for the whole family, experience the classic tale of Cinderella this winter. An enchanting story for the entire gang to enjoy, watch on as Cinders is magically transformed from rags to riches, outwitting her nasty sisters and winning the heart of the dashing Prince.
