Sunderland’s beloved Festival of Light is making a triumphant return for the first time in almost 2 years this October.
The iconic celebration of breathtaking lights will be held in its original Roker Park home on Thursday 14 October after last taking place in Sunderland city centre.
Lighting Up The Sky…
The Festival of Light has always been a staple event in the city’s calendar. A special period every Autumn when the city’s sky is filled with colour and enchanting light displays for all of the family to enjoy. And after going a year without this delight for the eyes we can’t wait to have it back in its original Roker Park home.
Alongside this warming October festival of fun there’s also a return of the much loved Sunderlands Illuminations! They’re set to light up the night sky along the Roker and Seaburn seafront every night from 14 October.
A Delightful Return Home
Speaking about The Festival of Light, Cabinet Member for Vibrant City, Councillor Linda Williams, said: “It’s really exciting to see events happening in the city again after all the uncertainty of the last 17 months.
“We will be working closely with our Public Health team to make sure the event is as safe as it can possibly be for everyone involved.
“The Festival of Light and Sunderland Illuminations are firm family favourites and I know many people will be delighted to see the festival returning to Roker Park.”
Tickets for the event are due to go on sale soon, visit My Sunderland to keep up to date on further announcements about the event.
