Legendary Canadian restaurant Tim Hortons has announced it’s coming to the North East for the first time!

Here’s everything you need to know about Tim Hortons’ new Washington shop ahead of its opening this August.

A Canadian Classic comes to Sunderland…

In 1964 National Hockey League legend Tim Horton decided he loved doughnuts so much that he wanted to open his own shop selling them! He opened the doors to the first store in Hamilton, Ontario Canada and instantly became a hit with the locals.

Fast forward to 2017 and Tim Hortons has become a Canadian icon, selling doughnuts, coffee, sandwiches and more across the Great White North. So, having conquered their home turf, Tim Hortons made its way to the UK for the first time. And surprise, surprise, us Brits loved it!

What’s On The Menu?

Alongside a mouthwatering selection of coffee and doughnuts, Tim Hortons also boasts an array of breakfast sandwiches, toasties, chicken sandwiches, wraps and their iconic ‘Tims’ shakes and smoothies.

However, it was the doughnuts that really put these guys on the map. They’ve got all kinds of flavours and varieties. But, we’re most excited about getting our hands on their signature ‘Timbits’ – a selection of mini doughnut-style cake balls that take the difficult choice of choosing just one flavour away.

So, it doesn’t matter if up for a sweet treat, big breakfast or epic lunch – Tim has you covered!

The official Tim Hortons Sunderland opening is set to take place on Monday 9 August at The Galleries and the first few customers through the doors at 7am will be in for something special…

If you’re one of the first 100 customers at the Washington restaurant you’ll bag yourself a free breakfast meal courtesy of Tim. But, if you’re THE first eager beaver through the door or the drive-through you’ll win free coffee for the entire year –  now that’s Canadian hospitality at its finest!

We can’t wait to get down and see what made this humble doughnut lover’s dream one of the most loved eateries in Canada.
